Amalgam fillings can often be seen when we talk or laugh. These can be unsightly and can also discolour the tooth. We can replace your old 'silver' fillings with a composite (white) filling, giving you a more natural smile.
Composite bonding is the use of composite material that is then bonded to reshape, rebuild, or fill damaged teeth. It is a very simple cosmetic procedure, but it also has a huge amount of potential for different kinds of repairs.
The treatment itself is very simple, and it can normally be done in just one simple appointment with your dentist. It requires your dentist to first match the colour of the composite resin with the rest of your teeth. This will ensure that the smile will be consistent and look as natural as possible. The resin will then be placed onto the area required and moulded into the correct shape. The finishing touches will consist of curing the composite resin and refining the tooth further.
The all-ceramic e.max crown has many advantages over traditional crowns. Besides its high aesthetic qualities, the function and longevity of the crown is excellent as well.
E.max is a system of crown fabrication which allows a porcelain crown to be made without the metal under structure. Traditionally, porcelain crowns are made by bonding the porcelain to a metal support. The drawback is that unlike a natural tooth which exhibits a certain degree of translucency, the metal framework under the porcelain blocks out the light. To the keen observer, the difference in shine and translucency between a natural tooth and can be quite obvious. While full porcelain crowns have been done (and are still being done), most have proven to break prematurely. Furthermore, porcelain surfaces are known to wear out opposing natural teeth faster.
Replacing missing teeth will improve the appearance of your smile and if they are not replaced greater strain is put on the teeth at either side of the gap. A dental implant is a long-lasting option to replace one or more missing teeth.
A gap can also mean your ‘bite’ is affected, because the teeth next to the space can lean into the gap and alter the way the upper and lower teeth bite together. This can then lead to food getting packed into the gap, which causes both decay and gum disease.
A dental bridge is usually used where there are only a few teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth. Bridges are usually made of a precious metal base.
Fillings are one of the most basic methods of restoring teeth. They do exactly what their name suggests – they fill a hole in the tooth that has been caused by decay and they play an important role in helping us keep a tooth for many more years.
In the past, fillings were always made from either gold or a silver-coloured alloy called amalgam. Both of these materials are extremely durable and in some cases, they are still the best choice available.
Amalgam fillings do however have one disadvantage – they do not match your natural white teeth in appearance. At Confidental we also offer white or composite fillings which give you a more natural smile.

Root Canal treatments are carried out when the inside of the tooth (the root or pulp) becomes infected or damaged.
Infection and damage to the root can be very painful, creating inflammation with the risk of severe pain and swelling. Root Canal Treatment eliminates the cause of the pain by completely removing the diseased or damaged tissue from the tooth. The root canal is meticulously cleaned, shaped and decontaminated, before securely filling it back up with a durable, inert material. This means you can be pain free whilst still keeping your original tooth.
There have been great innovations in the last few years to improve the comfort, speed and efficiency of this treatment. Our dentists are experienced, highly skilled and keep up-to-date with the most current concepts in Root Canal Treatment to ensure that they deliver the best possible care for our patients.
At the first appointment, the infected pulp is removed. Any abscesses, which may be present, can also be drained at this time. The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a second visit usually a few weeks later and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled to prevent it returning. Once the root canal treatment is completed we usually restore the actual tooth to seal it completely using fillings or crowns.
Root canal treatment is usually very successful. However, if the infection comes back the root canal treatment can be repeated.
The alternative is to have the tooth extracted. Once the nerve dies it can’t heal, and, it is not recommended to leave an infected tooth in the mouth. Although some people would prefer an extraction, it is usually advised to keep as many natural teeth as possible.
Yes. However, it is better to restore the tooth with a crown to provide extra support and strength to the tooth.

Root-treated teeth should be treated just the same as any other tooth. Remember to clean your teeth at least twice a day, preferably with a fluoride toothpaste. Cut down on sugary snacks and keep them only to mealtimes if possible. See your dentist for regular check-ups.
